Who we are

Welcome to 2219550 Alberta Society, a Calgary-based nonprofit society devoted to empowering immigrants and newcomers to build meaningful lives in Canada.

Our purpose is simple yet powerful: to bridge cultures, strengthen communities, and help newcomers thrive socially, economically, and emotionally.

We believe that true integration goes beyond employment or language — it’s about belonging. Through community engagement, education, and empowerment, we are inculturing new immigrants into Canadian society while celebrating cultural diversity as one of our nation’s greatest strengths.

Our Mission

To inculture and empower new immigrants — equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and community connections needed to thrive — while building culturally diverse communities where everyone belongs.

Our Vision

A Calgary where diversity is celebrated as strength, where every newcomer feels at home, and where all cultures contribute to a shared and prosperous future.

Our Approach

We believe that integration is a two-way process: newcomers adapt to Canadian life, and communities learn to embrace cultural diversity. Our programs combine education, mentorship, and collaboration — ensuring that both sides grow stronger together.

Why Our Work Matters

Calgary is one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most diverse cities:

  • Immigrants make up 33.3% of Calgary’s total population — one in every three residents.
  • Between 2016 and 2021, over 81,000 newcomers settled in Calgary.
  • Nearly 60% of Calgarians are first- or second-generation immigrants.
  • Immigrants contribute to 36% of Calgary’s workforce, driving innovation, small business creation, and cultural growth.
  • Yet, many newcomers face integration challenges such as underemployment, cultural isolation, and mental health stress, which can delay or prevent full participation in society.

2219550 Alberta Society responds to these realities by building pathways that connect newcomers, long-term residents, and local institutions — creating a culturally diverse, inclusive, and economically strong Calgary.
